Bailey Creek Lodge
Anglers at Bailey Creek Lodge will enjoy easy access to Bailey Creek, which has open paths, shaded pools and very little streamside brush. The secondary waters of Rock Creek offer a more rugged terrain amid large rocks and trees - this one is for the more adventurous angler. In addition to Bailey Creek and Rock Creek, 3 trout-filled lakes await you. There is a small lake on the property, just above Bailey Creek, that is filled with rainbow trout that are measured in pounds, not inches. The lake can be covered from shore and doesn't require wading or a float tube (although a float tube is allowed). The unobstructed view to the west offers superb sunsets as you ply the shoreline or drift across the lake in your tube. A spectacular three-acre lake close to the lodge is also full of abundant trophies just waiting for you to come calling. Just five minutes up the road from Bailey Creek, massive brown trout surface in the beautiful, calm waters of Lake Christine. This lake is pproximately seven acres in size! An abundance of shallow waters with typical weed beds make for exciting visual fishing of brown trout and an incredible evening hatch. A beautiful forested setting makes exploring this lake by float tube a real treat. The Lodge sits right above Bailey Creek on the Twin Creeks Ranch below Mt. Lassen. This is a five bedroom, five bath beauty that you will find extremely comfortable. From each room, guests can relax to the sounds of rushing stream waters, which are both soothing and invigorating. The bedrooms are on the bottom floor and the entire upper floor is designed for eating and relaxing around the fireplace, watching TV, tying flies or shooting a little pool. Picture windows look out to a magnificent view of the green canopy over Bailey Creek and a forested mountain ridge beyond. The entire north side of the building is a spacious deck looking down on a large patio area and a lovely heated 20 x 40 foot pool and jacuzzi. The whole area around the lodge, pool and Jacuzzi is surrounded by lawn, lots of lawn! Bailey Creek Lodge is the perfect place to end each day and share stories over a glass of wine and fine food. The lodge is small enough to reserve the entire venue for a truly private vacation. Outside, a wood deck stretches the length of the windows and affords a great view of Bailey Creek. Below is a very spacious patio area, complete with tables, chairs and an open fire pit bordered by lush garden planters. Walk across manicured lawn to the 20 x 40 foot heated swimming pool or relax in the adjoining hot tub spa. Rates: $275/day per angler (double occupancy) $135/day for the non-angler $300/day for single angler All dates are subject to availability. |

Clearwater House
From the cozy confines of Clearwater House you can fish waters of the Pit River, Fall River, Hat Creek, McCloud River, and upper Sacramento River. All you need now is top-notch guiding, excellent dining, and fine accommodations. That s where Dick Galland, founder of Clearwater House, comes in. He and his staff will do everything possible to make your stay and fishing as good as possible. Oh, that s right the fishing, the fishing! What appeals to you? If it s #22 trico spinners to a #4 sofa pillow, on the flat water of Hat Creek to the free-stone pockets of the Pit River, both water types and hatch variety are abundant in this corner of the universe. Sometimes it s delivering a #18 PMD sparkle-dun on a 16- foot leader, tapered down to 7x tippet, from an aluminum pram on picturesque Fall River. Other days it s high-sticking a big ugly #6 Kaufmann rubberleg stone under a 7.5-foot 5x leader on the lush banks of the McCloud River. No matter how you slice it, opportunities (and trout) lurk in these waters. Dick has hand picked his guide staff from a wide-range of experience and backgrounds, all employing a common denominator of patience and professionalism. He knows that a slow catching day, spent with a fun, outgoing, and educational guide is better than a high fish-count day with the cast here type. These guys will see to it that your day is as productive and pleasurable as possible, never loosing sight of your needs. Clearwater House is an eighty-year old stucco farm-house which Dick brought through extensive remodeling and now offers seven bedrooms, each with a private bath. Beautiful fish prints, antique furnishings, and oriental rugs adorn Clearwater s walls and rooms, which the staff keep spotless and running smoothly. A friendly fireplace with receptive couches and chairs welcomes your return from the day s fishing adventures, or you may choose to stroll through the garden taking in views of the surrounding mountains. When it s time for dinner, you won t be left unfulfilled. The food at Clearwater House is prepared by a cook who understands fishing builds hearty appetites and is served family-style at a big, cherry dining table. |

Mongolia
Mongolia has one of the planet s largest tracts of untouched wilderness. Its landscape abounds with snow capped peaks; vast river valleys lined with unbroken larch and birch forests; huge rolling meadows ablaze with wildflowers; elk, bear, wolves, eagles and, of course, crystal clear rivers full of taimen, lenok and grayling. For fly fishermen the real treasure in Mongolia lies within these clear waters. After all, where else on earth is it possible to cast dry flies every day to fish over 50 pounds. For most fly fishermen, seeing a 50-75 inch Taimen explode on a mouse will be the experience of a lifetime! The guiding staff consists of Jeff Vermillion, the camp owner, and other highly experienced American guides. They will give fly fishermen the choice of species and then take them via jet boat to the water suited to their interests. Fishing is a combination of Atlantic salmon-style drops from the boat and wading. The emphasis is on wade fishing but days can be tailored to provide the kind of fishing desired. The rivers around the camp are a fly fisherman's dream, with moderate flow, easy wading, and predictable banks. While fishing, guests will stay in fully equipped "gers." Gers are practical, round felt tents used by the nomads of Mongolia. They are 9 feet high and 18 feet in diameter and allow fishermen plenty of room to spread out and relax. Each has a wooden floor with an American cylinder stove replete with hot water. There is also ample space to store fishing gear. The fishing camps are accessed by helicopter or commercial flights from Ulaanbaatar with direct service from Beijing. Included in the price is round-trip helicopter flight to Ur Camps or commercial flight with jeep to Three Rivers Camp; accommodations based on double occupancy at the fishing area; all meals at the fishing camp including beer; taimen fly patterns; fishing permits; guide services based on one American guide/two anglers for the fall season; English-speaking camp operator and Travelex insurance for fishing package. Not included in the price is International airfare to and from Ulaanbaatar; Mongolian visa; three days lodging, meals and entertainment in Ulaanbaatar and Beijing; gratuities to camp staff, guides and hotel personnel; baggage handling or overweight charges; personal items; alcoholic beverages; telephone calls; laundry; room service; fishing equipment/tackle; and airport departure taxes. |

Peacock Bass at The Royal Amazon Lodge
The river that runs through the reserve is crystal clear with a white sand bottom. Imagine a small river flanked by Varzea flood forest and Gallery forests still in pristine shapes with all of its great wildness still intact. The crowns of many of the hardwood trees in the Gallery forest reach heights of 300 feet and all of the species are still present. It is not uncommon to find beaches filled with the tracks of the endangered Amazon River turtles, tapir and even jaguar. Nothing could be more spectacular for an angler than the return ride to the lodge after a great day of fishing through meandering bends of this great watershed as the forest comes to life each evening. At the lodge, clients are attended by a friendly Brazilian staff. The size of the lodge has been kept small to afford anglers a great expanse of fishing water and to insure that the atmosphere at the lodge is a pleasant one. It is the small family atmosphere and sheer elegance of the lodge that have made the Royal Amazon a success. Accommodations at the lodge are in spacious air-conditioned bungalows, each with two beds, a private bathroom, room to relax and ample room for storage of gear and fishing equipment. Each bungalow is surrounded by jungle with a view of the river. Clients will fish two to a boat with one guide. In addition to peacock bass, other gamefish present include payara, piranha, pirapatinga, matrincha, pirarucu, aruana, jancunda, traira, surubim and countless other species. While these names may not mean much to the Northern angler, after your trip to the Royal Amazon there is little doubt that each will be attached to a memorable angling experience. The Bonefish Bay Club of South Andros is located 15 minutes from the South Andros Airport in the southern section of the island and is a short distance from some of the finest bonefishing on the planet earth. Literally hundreds of square miles of bone-white flats offer our guests unlimited opportunities to challenge some of the largest and most cooperative bonefish anywhere. Each day, our guests select to fish nearby creeks or the vast ocean flats of the East, South and West Coasts. Breakfast is early, dinner is late, and in-between is some of the best fishing imaginable. The lodge has 9 clean and comfortable, air-conditioned rooms, each recently refurnished and all with full bath with showers. Situated in a very quiet area and right on the ocean, a short and refreshing swim from our wonderful beach can follow a successful day on the flats, or the deep blue water of the open ocean. Daily housekeeping is provided and laundry service is available as well. Our Bonefish Bay Club is blessed with the most experienced guides on the island. This team of 9 professionals represent, collectively, over 90 years of experience fishing and guiding on the creeks and ocean flats of South Andros. They know the tides, the winds, and the temperatures affecting our underwater world and you will be comforted to know that the individual on the back of your skiff pointing to two, 10 pound bones 200 feet away takes his job very seriously. Your daily options are plentiful, varied, and wonderful. They could include the following: The South Bight Regarded as one of the more scenic areas on the island, the South Bight has deeper channels and, as it is closer to the ocean, is home to some of the larger fish in the area as well. Bonefish are fewer in numbers here, but, with its combination of bone-white flats, turquoise and emerald waters, fishing The Bight is a most memorable experience. Deep Creek Just moments from the lodge, Deep Creek quickly opens to a 6-mile wide bay dotted with dozens of small islands, or cays . This area is the perfect spot for those wishing a longer day on the flats and, as it s more protected an area, is the place to be if wind is a factor as air is, generally, nearly motionless on the leeward sides of many of these cays. Little Creek Again, just 5 minutes from the lodge, Little Creek is not only a most productive fishery with limitless wading opportunities, but also connects our guests to the infinite flats of the West Coast. For those seeking more fishing time and the option for a run to the west, Little Creek is the perfect option. The South & West Coast For anglers wishing to cast to a school of bonefish an acre in size, a visit to the South and West Coast of South Andros is a must. In and around Water Cays, Curly Cut, and Grassy Creek it is not uncommon to see hundreds of bonefish in one dark mass swim closely by as this region is regarded as the place to be if sheer numbers of fish is the goal of the day. The ocean flats of this area stretch from horizon to horizon and fishing pressure is almost non-existent. Although requiring a 45 minute boat ride, a visit to this area should be included in your week as wading adjacent to a Bone-Ball is an experience one will always remember.
